Tommo's Birthday Present Vegan Brownies
February 27th 2008 10:38
My bro had his birthday recently and as Romeo and I are povvo, we made Tommo some special brownies as a present... Look these really are kind to your heart and soul.
TOMMO'S BIRTHDAY PRESENT VEGAN BROWNIES
2 cups of plain flour
3/4 cups cocoa
1 cup sugar
2 tsp of baking soda
1 tsp of Baking powder
2 tsp of salt
2 cups of soy milk tinted water
3/4 cup of oil
tsp of vanilla
3/4 cup of coarsely ground coconut (or nuts similarly-hazelnuts are a bit of heaven)
Mix dry ingredients well (bar coconut / nuts), getting air through the flour,
little chips of clustered cocoa are really lovely to leave in..
As my dad always used to tell me, create a well in the centre
Add the wet ingredients and finally the coconut.
Bake at 180 degrees for 50 minutes.
Orzata glaze
Orzata is a syrupy Greek almond cordial
3 tbs Orzata
1 tsp Mandarin essence
5 tbs of cocoa
3 tbs Margarine
Melt for about 5-6 seconds till bubbling in microwave and mix well.
Now, the cake is cooling well and is just warm.
Pierce the surface deeply with a knife of your choosing.
Slowly drizzle the syrup over, it will set slightly as it catches the surface. Smooth over.
Have 1/2 cup or more if you like of just toasted coconut and guess what?
youve got it..on top it goes!!
Romeo aint doing the next blog because I wont let him.. I am so supremely excited to give you guys my most prized recipe of late...a vegan burger that is waaay better than all that packaged tvp out there..stay tuned.
